TAHT CAUSE THE AIRPLANE TO BOUNCE, PILOT OVERCORRECTED AND TAIL STRIKE THE AIRPLANE, THE AIRCRAFT THEN BOUNCED AGAIN, PILOT DECIDED TO GO AROUND, ACCORDING TO THE PILOT LANDING WAS STABLE, WITHOUT ISSUES. UPON EXTERIOR INSPECTION PILOT NOTICED THE TAIL GUARD WAS BENT AND THERE WAS A SMALL DENT ON THE RUDDER. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA319](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA319), Jun 16, 2024: Cessna 172 (N92970), Elizabeth City, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper flare and subsequent improper recovery from a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
