## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 16 AT REED RANCH(I92) AIRPORT. PILOT REALIZED HE WAS RUNNING OUT OF USABLE RUNWAY AND COULD NOT GO AROUND DUE TO NEARBY TERRAIN AND TREES SURROUNDING THE RUNWAY. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON THE GRASS/DIRT RUNWAY WITH LESS THAN HALF OF THE RUNWAY DISTANCE REMAINING. THE PILOT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP WHEN THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER, FLIPPING ON TO ITS BACK. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD AND SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA208](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA208), Jun 21, 2024: Dehavilland Beaver DHC-2 MK.1 (N588Z), Yellow Pine, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to attain a proper touchdown point during landing and his subsequent excessive use of brakes.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
