## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LOST POWER ON RETURN FLIGHT FORM BACKCOUNTRY AIRPORT TO HOME FIELD. PILOT ESTIMATED FUEL IN TANKS BEFORE DEPARTING AT APPROXIMATELY 3/4 FULL OF RETURN FLIGHT. AIRCRAFT MADE AN EMERGENCY HARD LANDING IN THE BACK FIELD OF A SCHOOL CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. FAA IIC VISUALLY VERIFIED MINIMAL RESIDUAL FUEL IN FUEL TANKS LESS THAN AN HOUR AFTER INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA206](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA206), Jun 24, 2024: Cessna 182A (N4059D), Spokane Valley, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight inspection and fuel planning, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
