## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DEPARTED GUTHRIE OKLAHOMA IN A LIGHT SPORT SEA RAY AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT FLEW FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES BEFORE HE ATTEMPTED A WATER LANDING AT LAKE CARL BLACKWELL IN OKLAHOMA. THE PILOT DID NOT BRING THE GEAR UP PRIOR TO MAKING THE LANDING CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER THE NOSE AND COME TO REST ON THE TOP OF THE AIRCRAFT IN THE LAKE. THERE WERE 2 PERSONS ON BOARD THAT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA258](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA258), Jul 6, 2024: Progressive Aerodyne Searey (N9987Z), Stillwater, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to properly configure the landing gear before performing a water landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
