## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 12, 2024, AT APPROXIMATELY 16:45 AKST, THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT FLEW OVER THE TOKOSITNA GLACIER NEXT TO HUNTER ICE FALLS WHEN THE PROPELLER RPM DECLINED. THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) ATTEMPTED TO PERFORM EMERGENCY PROCEDURES AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN CORRECTING THE ISSUE. THE PILOT WAS FORCED TO MAKE AN OFF-AIRPORT LANDING AND THE AIRCRAFT SPUN 180 DEGREES AFTER HITTING TREES ON THE LANDING. A SUCCESSFUL EVACUATION WAS PERFORMED, AND EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE CALLED BY THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC24LA064](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC24LA064), Jul 13, 2024: Dehavilland DHC-2T (N535KT), Petersville, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: An in-flight loss of thrust due to an uncommanded feathering of the propeller for reasons that could not be determined.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
