## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ON TAKEOFF ROLL WHEN HE APPLIED FORWARD STICK AND RAISED THE TAIL OFF OF THE RUNWAY. THE PLANE MAINTAINED RUNWAY HEADING FOR A FEW SECONDS PRIOR TO YAWING RIGHT. HE APPLIED LEFT RUDDER TO MAINTAIN RUNWAY ALIGNMENT. THE AIRPLANE THEN YAWED HARD LEFT FORCING HIM INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE COCKPIT. AS HE ATTEMPTED TO MAINTAIN AIRCRAFT CONTROL, THE AIRPLANE LEFT THE RUNWAY INTO THE SOD AND BEAN FIELD. THE PLANES LH MAIN GEAR BROKE AWAY FROM THE PLANE THEN THE PROPPELLER HIT THE GROUND AND BROKE OFF THE ENGINE CRANKSHAFT. THE PLANE CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN WITH THE LH WING DETACHED FROM THE PLANE.THE PILOT BROKE OUT A WINDOW AND ESCAPED FROM THE WRECKAGE WITH NO MAJOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA274](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA274), Jul 15, 2024: Cessna A188 (N9807V), David City, NE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
