## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 1835 LOCAL TIME AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS DECENDING TOWARDS THE AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE EXPERIANCED ROUGHNESS AND THE PILOT APPLIED CARB HEAT. ENGINE REGAINED POWER FOR ABOUT A MINUTE AND THE ROUGHNESS RETURNED. PILOT STATED THE ENGINE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAINTAIN FLIGHT AND DECLARED AND EMEGENCY. PILOT FLEW THE AIRCRAFT TO AN OPEN FIELD ABOUT 3-4 MILES NOTH WEST OF THE AIRPORT. AS THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN THE FIELD, THE NOSE WHEEL STUCK A CHAIN LINK FENCE PRIOR TO TOUCH DOWN. THE NOSE WHEEL BROKE FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED NOSE FIRST WITH LEFT WING STIKING THE GOUND. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ABOUT 200 FEET FROM THE FENCE. PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA315](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA315), Jul 18, 2024: Cessna 182 (N8523T), Zephyrhills, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to the formation of carburetor ice as a result of the pilot’s delayed application of carburetor heat.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
