## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 19, 2024, AT 1500 LOCAL TIME, A CESSNA 195 AIRCRAFT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, REGISTERED TO AND FLOWN BY AN AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT RATED INDIVIDUAL SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE FOLLOWING A LOSS OF CONTROL AND SUBSEQUENT GROUND LOOP DURING LANDING ON RUNWAY 28, GREENVILLE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (6D6), GREENVILLE, MICHIGAN. VISUAL FLIGHT RULES (VFR) METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (CFR) PART 91 WITHOUT A FLIGHT PLAN. NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGERS WERE REPORTED.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE AND HIS PASSENGERS WERE IN ROUTE TO OSHKOSH, WISCONSIN FROM GEORGIA AND LANDING AT GREENVILLE FOR A PLANED FUEL STOP. ON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY DRIFTED TO THE LEFT, THE PILOT THEN APPLIED HARD RIGHT BRAKE AND RUDDER TO GET THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO CENTERLINE RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPING TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED ON THE RUNWAY SURFACE DURING THE EVENT AND CAME TO REST FACING 180 DEGREES FROM THE RUNWAY HEADING. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO TAXI THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE RUNWAY AND SECURE IT ON THE RAMP.

THE PILOT FURTHER STATED, HE FELT THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TIRE WAS FLAT PRIOR TO LANDING RESULTING IN THE DRIFT TO THE LEFT. ADDITIONALLY, ONCE THE AIRCRAFT TURNED TO THE RIGHT THE LEFT WHEEL DUG INTO THE PAVEMENT FURTHER EXACERBATING THE GROUND LOOP.

INVESTIGATION SHOWS TIRE SKID MARKS AND PAVEMENT GOUGING ON THE RUNWAY SURFACE INDICATIVE OF A GROUND LOOP TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR WITH TORTIONAL AND IMPACT DAMAGE TO BOTH SIDES OF THE FUSELAGE AT THE GEAR MOUNTING POINTS. THE LEFT TIRE IS FLAT AND THE WHEEL SHOWS SCRAPING FROM THE RUNWAY SURFACE. THE FUSELAGE IS BUCKLED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS WITH THE RIGHT-SIDE ENTRY DOOR SPRUNG FROM THE DOOR FRAME. THE LEFT SIDE WINDOW IS CRACKED WITH THE WINDSHIELD “A” POST SHOWING TORTIONAL DAMAGE AND POPPED RIVETS. THE WINGS AND PROPELLER APPEAR UNDAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA280](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA280), Jul 19, 2024: Cessna 195A (N1524D), Greenville, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control during landing which led to a ground-loop.
