## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FROM THE PIC OF THE PROPOSED FLIGHT THE FIRE TOOK PLACE WHILE STATIONARY AND ON THE GROUND. FROM HIS DESCRIPTION TO ME THE RUN-UP AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS NORMAL UNTIL HE SAW SIGNS OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HE AND THE PASSENGER IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. HE ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH THE ONBOARD FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT IT WAS INEFFECTIVE. THE AIRPORT FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED MINUTES LATER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE.

NTSB DID NOT INVESTIGATE THIS BECAUSE DAMAGE CRITERIA WAS NOT MET. THIS WAS A NO ACTION FOR THE NTSB.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
