## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON BASE LEG FOR OSH RWY 36 LEFT, PILOT WAS DIRECTED BY OSH TOWER TO EXTEND BASE LEG TO ALLOW FOR FASTER TRAFFIC TO PROCEED AHEAD OF HIM. WHILE TURNING FINAL, SPEED DECREASED, AIRCRAFT STALLED AND ENTERED AN UNCONTROLLED SPIN TO THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24FA277](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24FA277), Jul 22, 2024: Lancair ES (N18BG), Oshkosh, WI, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed which resulted in an exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack and an aerodynamic stall while maneuvering for traffic spacing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
