## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LANDED AT MCC WITH APPROXIMATELY ½ TANKS, FILLED BOTH TANKS AT MCCLELLAN. COMPLETED FULL RUN UP PRIOR TO TAKE OFF. KEPT THE FUEL ON THE SAME TANK.

ENGINE FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 500’, CHECKED ENGINE GAGES WHILE SWITCHING THE ELECTRIC FUEL BOOST PUMP FROM LOW TO HIGH, INITIATED A LEFT TURN TO TRY TO MAKE IT BACK TO THE RUNWAY. NOTICED THAT HE WOULD NOT MAKE THE RUNWAY AND THE FREEWAY WAS FULL OR TRAFFIC. HE DECIDED TO PUT DOWN AT THE GOLF COURSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA267](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA267), Aug 4, 2024: Piper PA-28R-201T (N135DG), Sacramento, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power during the initial climb due to the detachment of the turbocharger’s inlet sleeve as a result of the installation of an incorrect sleeve clamp.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
