## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS SOLE OCCUPANT OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (MAULE M4) ON AUGUST 6TH 2024, DOING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS ON RUNWAY (RWY) 33. ON TOUCH-DOWN THE AIRCRAFT RH WING LIFTED FROM AN APPARENT CROSS-WIND CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TAIL TO SWING TO THE LEFT RESULTING IN A GROUND LOOP WITH THE LH WING IMPACTING THE RWY AND THE LH LANDING GEAR STRUT TO COLLAPSE AND FOLD UNDER THE AIRCRAFT. THE COLLAPSED LH LDG CAUSED THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RWY AND STOP THE ENGINE. THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST ON THE EDGE OF THE RWY. PILOT COMPLETED A POST-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND EXITED THE AIRPLANE WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA276](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA276), Aug 6, 2024: Maule M4 (N9849M), Scappoose, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control after an encounter with a wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
