## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BASED ON PILOT NARRATIVE, AN APPROACH WAS MADE TO THE GRASS RUNWAY WITH THE INTENT TO LAND ON THE GRASS, THEN TRANSITION ONTO THE CONCRETE RUNWAY. PILOT BEGAN THE FLARE BUT DID NOT GET SUFFICIENT ROTATION WHICH RESULTED IN A HARD AND FLAT LANDING. REALIZING THAT THE NOSE GEAR HAD COLLAPSED, PILOT BEGAN SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES.

UPON MY ARRIVAL ON SCENE, I SAW LANDING GEAR TRACKS IN THE GRASS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE CONCRETE RUNWAY LEADING UP TO THE CONCRETE, THEN THREE PARALLEL SCRAPES ON THE CONCRETE CONTINUING OFF TO THE WEST SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS WHERE THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST.

THE AIRPLANE NOSE WAS ON THE GROUND WITH THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FOLDED UNDERNEATH. OF THE PROPELLER'S FOUR BLADES, THE TWO POINTED TOWARD THE GROUND WERE BENT TOWARD THE REAR, WHILE THE OTHER TWO STILL POINTING UP DID NOT APPEAR TO BE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA314](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA314), Aug 11, 2024: Cessna 208 (N420DZ), Whitewright, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s incomplete flare which resulted a hard, flat landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
