## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING EN ROUTE: DESCENT PHASE OF FLIGHT A FLIGHT ATTENDANT IN THE AFT GALLEY OBSERVED STRONG ODOUR DESCRIBED AS BURNING RUBBER. FLIGHT CREW WAS ADVISED AND SITUATION WAS MONITORED. OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, FLIGHT CREW SUBSEQUENTLY ELECTED TO DECLARE PAN PAN WHICH WAS LATER ESCALATED TO EMERGENCY.ARFF CONDUCTED EXTERNAL GVI WITH NO FAULTS FOUND.

MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ODOUR. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DEEMED TO BE AIRWORTHY AND RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
