## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT HE TOUCHED DOWN WITHIN THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE AND WHILE HE SLOWLY PRESSED THE BRAKES HE REALIZED THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN AS HE HAD EXPECTED. HE INITIATED A GO-AROUND AND ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF AGAIN, HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT FAILED TO GAIN SUFFICIENT LIFT DURING DEPARTURE. AS THE PILOT RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR, THE AIRCRAFT CLIPPED THE TOP OF THE PERIMETER FENCE AND CAME TO REST IN THE FIELD ADJACENT TO THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT BELIEVES THE PROPELLER MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING THE PROCESS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA350](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA350), Aug 17, 2024: Piper PA-24-250 (N7531P), Shirley, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s excessive speed during the final approach, which resulted in a collision with a fence during the subsequent aborted landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
