## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON TOUCHING DOWN THE WHEELS DUG INTO THE SOFT, WET GROUND. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND THE AIRPLANE VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT, IMPACTING WITH A BARBED-WIRE FENCE, RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT WING.

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO PREIMPACT MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS OR FAILURES WITH THE AIRPLANE THAT WOULD HAVE PRECLUDED NORMAL OPERATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA353](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA353), Aug 20, 2024: Gulfstream American AA-5B (N4533F), Mohawk, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in wet conditions, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
