## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA359](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA359), Aug 27, 2024: Champion 7ECA (N9580S), Sussex, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to properly secure the left wing fuel cap, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

## Other reports on N9580S (1)

- [Accident 19830911048659A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830911048659A), Sep 11, 1983: Bbavia 7GCBC (N9580S), Spokane, WA, Substantial damage. Lost directional control during a touch and go. Aircraft ground looped and struck a runway light with its tail.
