## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT IN COMMAND ATTEMPTED TO LAND RUNWAY 17 AT JOHNSON CREEK AIRPORT (3U2) WITH APPROXIMATELY 10-15 KNOT TAILWIND AT 1540 LOCAL TIME IN THE AFTERNOON. EYEWITNESS STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT "BOUNCED" THREE TIMES AND THEN "WENT AROUND". AIRCRAFT TURNED LEFT TO AVOID RISING TERRAIN AND IMPACTED THE LEFT (EAST) SIDE OF THE JOHNSON CREEK CANYON. FINAL FLIGHT PATH WAS THROUGH SEVERAL TREES ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CANYON, SUBSEQUENT GROUND IMPACT AND INTO MULTIPLE POWER POLE GUIDE WIRES. THE MAJORITY OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONSUMED BY A POST CRASH FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24FA288](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24FA288), Aug 29, 2024: Textron T206H (N712AM), Yellow Pine, ID, destroyed, 2 fatal, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
