## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED HE AND 2 FRIENDS WERE OUT LOOKING FOR A MOOSE TO HUNT. THEY ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON A KNOB GOING UPHILL, WITH A 5-7 MPH TAILWIND, MADE THE DECISION TO GO AROUND AND WERE UNABLE TO GET AIRBORNE BEFORE GOING OVER THE TOP OF THE KNOB. AIRCRAFT SETTLED INTO ALDER BUSHES ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE KNOB.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC24LA083](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC24LA083), Aug 30, 2024: Piper PA22 (N4NW), Aleknagik, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from terrain while maneuvering at low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
