## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

APPROCH TO 4G7 RUNWAY 5, WITH GEAR DOWN THE ACFT CAME IN TOO FAST AND WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP SO THE PILOT CODUCTED A "GO-AROUND". THE ACFT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER OR LIFT TO CLEAR THE TREES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE ACFT STRUCK MULTIPLE TREES BEFORE COMING IN CONTACT WITH A SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER TREE WITH MULTIPLE BRANCHES THAT STUCK THE LEFT WING CAUSING THE LEFT WING TO FRACTURE AND THE ACFT TO ROTATE 180 DEGREES FROM RUNWAY 5 CRASH LANDING IN A CLEARING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA366](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA366), Aug 30, 2024: Mooney M20K (N1005U), Fairmont, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to attain the proper touchdown point, and his delay in aborting the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
