THE AIRCRAFT FLEW INTO A VALLEY. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT COULD NOT OUTCLIMB THE TERRAIN AHEAD A LEFT 180 TURN WAS INITIATED AT 500 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL.DURING THE TURN IN GUSTY AIR THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE TERRAIN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC24LA086](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC24LA086), Aug 31, 2024: Cessna 150H (N41WP), Tok, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The airplane’s encounter with gusting winds resulting in a loss of altitude with performance insufficient to outclimb terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
