## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT GROUND LOOPED AIRCRAFT UPON LANDING ON RUNWAY 27. THE PILOT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LIGHT CROSSWIND AT THE AIRPORT, SO HE DECIDED TO PRACTICE TOUCH-AND-GO TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS. HE DEPARTED RUNWAY 27 AND COMPLETED A TRAFFIC PATTERN. AFTER TOUCHING DOWN ON THE RUNWAY, THE AIRPLANE GROUND LOOPED. THE LEFT WING AND PROPELLER WERE DAMAGED IN THE GROUND LOOP WITH SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT-WING SPAR. THE PILOT ADMITTED THAT HE MADE A MISTAKE AND COULDN'T CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO PREIMPACT MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS OR FAILURES THAT WOULD HAVE PRECLUDED NORMAL OPERATION OF THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA301](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA301), Sep 1, 2024: Thompson Ryan L Thompson Craft (N954RD), Port Angeles, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing rollout, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
