## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TAKEOFF, AS THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO ROTATE, THE LANDING GEAR BEGAN RETRACTING. BOTH PILOTS IN THE AIRCRAFT REPORTED THE LANDING GEAR LEVER WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION AND WAS NOT TOUCHED AT ANY POINT DURING TAKEOFF.

DURING THE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION THE WIRING OF THE GEAR RETRACTION AND EXTENSION HANDLE WAS FOUND DAMAGE ON 4 OF THE WIRES OF THE BUNDLE THAT OPERATES THE HANDLE. RETRACTION AND EXTENSION TESTS WERE PERFORMED AND SAID WIRES ARE PRODUCING AN ARC EVERY TIME THEY MOVE AND TOUCH EACH OTHER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA376](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA376), Sep 8, 2024: Beech 58 (N6037M), Raleigh, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: Damage to the landing gear selector switch wire bundle which resulted in an inadvertent retraction of the landing gear during the takeoff roll.

## Other reports on N6037M (2)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
