## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT'S LATE CROSSWIND INPUTS ON NARROW RW13 (60’ WIDE) RESULTED IN HARD LANDING WITH NOSE GEAR LEG DAMAGE & GO AROUND. THE SECOND LANDING RESULTED IN AIRCRAFT DEPARTING THE PAVED SURFACE INTO A DEEP DITCH ON LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT OVERTURNED WITH DAMAGE TO CANOPY, WING TIPS, AND VERTICAL STABILIZER. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES TO PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA381](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA381), Sep 13, 2024: Walden Robert Vans Aircraft RV-7A (N65RW), Williamsburg, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to continue with an unstabilized approach which resulted in a hard landing and loss of directional control during a subsequent landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
