## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 10:00 MDT, AFTER PERFORMING APPROXIMATELY 6-7 TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS, THE PILOT ENTERED A NORMAL APPROACH TO PERFORM A FULL-STOP THREE-POINT LANDING ON RUNWAY 9 AT 20V (MC ELROY AIRFIELD). AFTER THE TOUCHDOWN, THE PLANE DRIFTED TO THE LEFT. FULL POWER WAS APPLIED TO GO-AROUND, BUT THE PLANE PULLED FURTHER LEFT AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY DOWN INTO AND UP OUT OF A DRAINAGE DITCH WHICH CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO GO AIRBORNE MOMENTARILY BEFORE PITCHING DOWN AND IMPACTING THE GROUND NOSE FIRST. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, COWLING, WINGS, AND CABIN STRUCTURE. THE PILOT REMAINED CONSCIOUS AND WAS ABLE TO EXIT AND WALK AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT SUFFERED A BUMP TO THE HEAD WHICH RESULTED IN A BLACK EYE. FIRST RESPONDERS TRANSPORTED THE PILOT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR A FULL EXAMINATION NO OTHER INJURIES FOUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA374](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA374), Sep 19, 2024: Cub Crafters CCX-2000 (N822TL), Kremmling, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during an aborted landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
