## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2024, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DECLARED A MEDICAL EMERGENCY FOR PASSENGER INJURIES AFTER RESPONDING TO A TCAS RA WHILE DESCENDING FROM FL320 TO FL310. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SAN FRANCISCO AND LANDED SAFELY AND TAXIED TO THE TERMINAL WHERE TWO PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ON INITIAL DESCENT INTO SFO FROM FL320 TO FL310 WHEN A CLIMB TCAS RA WAS COMMANDED PRIOR TO FL315. THE SEAT BELT SIGN WAS ON AT THE TIME BUT THE PASSENGERS FROM SEAT 40D AND 41D WERE NOT SEATED. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS WAS IN THE LAVATORY AND THE OTHER JUST OUTSIDE THE LAVATORY WHEN THE CREW RESPONDED TO THE RA. THE MALE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED ANKLE. THE INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE FEMALE PASSENGER ARE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. BOTH WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DCA24LA316](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DCA24LA316), Sep 19, 2024: Boeing 757-224 (N12125), Dunnigan, CA, no damage. Probable cause: The abrupt pitch control input by the flight crew in response to a TCAS resolution advisory resulted in two serious passenger injuries.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
