## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 33 TO THE NORTH, FLAPS AT 40 DEGRESS, PILOT EXPERIENCED A HIGH SINK RATE. PILOT ADDED POWER AND AIRCRAFT PITCHED NOSE-HIGH, OBSCURING VIEW OF RUNWAY. ONCE PILOT CORRECTED AND REDUCED POWER TO LOWER THE NOSE, HE OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT HAD YAWED TO THE LEFT AND WAS NO LONGER ALIGNED WITH THE RUNWAY, BUT WAS FACING MORE TO HIS LEFT (WEST). PILOT DETERMINED ALTITUDE WAS TOO LOW AT THIS POINT TO ATTEMPT A GO AROUND AND ADDED RUDDER TO STRAIGHTEN AIRCRAFT BUT EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING, BREAKING THE NOSE GEAR FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND COMING TO REST UPRIGHT BUT NOSE DOWN, IN THE GRASS TO THE WEST OF THE RUNWAY ON THE SOUTHERN END OF THE AIRPORT. PILOT WAS SOLE OCCUPANT AND SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. AIRCRAFT TOOK SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO PROP, FORWARD FUSELAGE, RIGHT WING OUTBOARD, AND LEFT WING LEADING EDGE OUTBOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
