THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED KMQI AIRPORT, DESTINATION KFFA AIRPORT. UPON ENTERING THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT KFFA, WHICH HAS A RIGHT TRAFFIC PATTERN, THE PILOT FLEW A LEFT TRAFFIC PATTERN. THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING A SECOND LANDING AFTER A GO AROUND ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THEY INITIATED ANOTHER GO AROUND, THE PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN PROPER AIRSPEED RESULTING IN A STALL. THE AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH THE TREES TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND WAS CONSUMED BY FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24FA397](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24FA397), Sep 28, 2024: Cirrus Design SR22 (N1281F), Kill Devil Hills, NC, destroyed, 5 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack during a go-around attempt, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and loss of airplane control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
