## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A "14 CFR 137 FLIGHT, DAY VFR FLIGHT, THE PILOT WAS RETURNING TO RE-FILL CHEMICALS NEAR MOFFETT, OK. THE PILOT STATED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 1330 CDT, HE LANDED ON A DIRT STRIP AS NORMAL THEN FELT THE TAIL END OF THE AIRCRAFT BOTTOM OUT. AFTERWARDS, HE REPORTED THERE WAS NO RUDDER CONTROL DUE TO THE TAILWHEEL ASSEMBLY HAVING BEEN FRACTURED. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT A BOLT THAT KEEPS THE TAIL WHEEL SWIVEL CASTER STRAIGHT HAD SHEARED. AFTER VEERING TO THE RIGHT AND GROUND LOOPING INTO VEGETATION, THE LEFT WING TIP WAS DAMAGED. NO MECHANICAL ANOMALIES WERE REPORTED BY THE PILOT PRIOR TO LANDING. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED DURING THE AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA002](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA002), Oct 1, 2024: Air Tractor AT-402A (N45472), Moffett, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The tail wheel assembly’s fractured bolt which resulted in the pilot’s loss of directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
