## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 2, 2024, A DA40 AIRCRAFT WITH 2 INSTRUCTORS ABOARD BOUNCED DURING LANDING, RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY HARD ENOUGH TO RESULT IN A BOUNCE FOLLOWED BY A SECOND BOUNCE. AFTER THE SECOND BOUNCE, THE CREW ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND BUT IT WAS STARTED TOO LATE. THE DA20 MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY A THIRD TIME THAT RESULTED IN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSING.

NO INJURIES OCCURRED AND THE OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA009](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA009), Oct 2, 2024: Diamond Aircraft Ind DA20-C1 (N4199M), Mesa, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot receiving instruction’s failure to maintain airspeed during landing and the flight instructor’s delayed remedial action, which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
