## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE EARLY EVENING HOURS THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT HAD STRONG, GUSTY AND VARIABLE WINDS IN THE AREA. THE LAKE THE AIRCRAFT WAS PREPARING TO DEPART FROM WAS SHELTERED BY THE SURROUNDING TREES. THE WATER WAS CALM, BUT THE PIC COULD SEE IT WAS WINDY ABOVE THE TREELINE. THE PIC AND THE PASSENGER TAXIED AROUND FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TRYING TO DECIDE WHAT DIRECTION THE PREVAILING WINDS WERE COMING FROM. THE PIC DECIDED TO TAKE OFF TO THE NORTH. AS THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO GET TO TREE TOP LEVEL, THEY FELT STRONG WINDS PUSHING THEM FROM THE SOUTH. A STRONG GUST OF WIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT INTO A STAND OF TALL TREES. THE RIGHT WING IMPACTED THE TREES, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CRASH INTO THE LAKE INVERTED AND PARTIALLY SUBMERGED.
