## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 12, 2024, AT OR AROUND 08:15 MDT, AN ARBC INC DBA LINDSTRAND 80E, STRUCK POWERLINES WHILE LANDING APROXIMATELY 6 MILES NW OF ALBUQUERQUE SUNPORT (ABQ), IN ALBQUQUERQUE, NM, WHILE ON A PERSONAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND A VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS NOT FILED. THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL, AND THE CERTIFICATED COMMERCIAL PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT ALBUQUERQUE, NM, ON OCTROBER 12, 2024, AT ABOUT 0700 MST.

THE INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THE PILOT WAS FLYING IN THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND WAS OVER A PART OF THE CITY WITH FEW PLACES TO LAND. HE WAS RUNNNING LOW ON FUEL AND THIS WAS THE ONLY SUITABLE LOCATION TO LAND. NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA016](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA016), Oct 12, 2024: Lindstrand 80E (N80029), Albuquerque, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of control during landing, which resulted in the balloon’s envelope contacting powerlines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
