## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED SUNRIVER, OR (S21) TO THE SOUTH FOR KLAMATH FALLS, OR (LMT). WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND WAS CHECKED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE USING THE FOREFLIGHT APP ON THE PILOTS IPAD AND ALSO CALLED THE AWOS AT LMT. THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WARNING BEFORE TAKEOFF AT S21. THE PILOT TAXIED THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO THE RAMP, SHUT DOWN THE AIRCRAFT AND CHECKED THE SYSTEM. NO FAULTS NOTED ON RESTART THEN DEPARTED FOR LMT AT 1334 PDT. EN ROUTE TO LMT AT APPROXIMATELY 1352 PDT AT 8500 FEET ALTITUDE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED, AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. WITHOUT ANY OPERABLE NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT EXCEPT FOREFLIGHT ON THE IPAD THE PILOT KNEW THERE WAS AN AIRPORT TO THE NORTHWEST (BEAVER MARSH S2S) BUT DID NOT VISUALLY SEE IT DUE TO A HILL BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT AND THAT AIRPORT. NO OTHER VIABLE ALTERNATE LANDING SITES COULD BE SEEN. OREGON HIGHWAY 138 WAS IN SIGHT BUT WAS BEYOND THE AIRCRAFT’S GLIDE PATH WITH NO POWER. THE PILOT MAINTAINED THE BEST GLIDE RATIO POSSIBLE WITH NO ENGINE POWER AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED TREES AT THE ACCIDENT SITE CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 1358 HOURS PDT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
