## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT PLUS ONE PASSENGER TOOK OFF FROM PRIVATE AIRSTRIP ABOUT 5NM ENE OF KING SALMON AIRPORT AND LANDED ON SHORE AT WEST END OF BECHAROF LAKE, ABOUT 40NM SOUTH OF PAKN. LANDING AREA WAS GRAVEL SHORELINE WHERE PILOT HAD LANDED PREVIOUS WEEK AND MANY TIMES PRIOR. ON LANDING ROLLOUT, THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR LEG BROKE JUST ABOVE THE AXLE (STRESS FATIGUE CRACK) RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO PROPELLER, FUESELAGE, AND RIGHT WING AILERON. PILOT AND PASSENGER DID NOT SUFFER ANY INJURIES.

A POSTACCIDENT EXAMINATION BY THE PILOT REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT GEAR FRACTURED A FEW INCHES ABOVE THE AXLE. THE BREAK IN THE GEAR LEG WAS GROUND DOWN BEFORE THE GEAR LEG FOLDED UNDER THE FUSELAGE. THE SEPARATED RIGHT WHEEL ASSEMBLY TRAVELED INTO THE LAKE AND WAS NOT RECOVERED. THE GEAR LEGS WERE LAST MAGNAFLUXED INSPECTED FOR CRACKS 15 YEARS AGO.
