## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF FROM RICHFIELD AIRPORT AND PLANNED ON PERFORMING AN OFF-FIELD LANDING AT KOOSHAREM RESERVIOR ROUGHLY 16.5 MILES SOUTH-EAST FROM THE RICHFIELD AIRPORT. AS THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE VALLEY TO THE SOUTH THE PILOT DECIDED TO FLY OVER MANNING MEADOW RESERVIOR TO SHOW HIS PASSENGER. THE PILOT DROPPED ALTITUDE PERFORM A LOW PASS OF THE RESERVIOR AND AS THE AIRPLANE WAS PASSED OVER THE LAKE THE TIRES CAUGHT A SNOW BERM ON THE LAKE. THE AIRCRAFT SLOWED DOWN DRASTICALLY AND FLIPPED OVER ON THE SNOW COVERED RESERVIOR AND CAME TO A HALT INVERTED. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE AIRPLANE UNDER THEIR OWN POWER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA056](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA056), Dec 5, 2024: Piper PA-12 (N1706B), Marysvale, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from snow covered terrain while maneuvering at low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System.
