## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT CONTACTED HILLSIDE BELOW RUNWAY ELEVATION. AIRCRAFT THEN MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY WHEN THE GEAR COLLASPED, THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY, AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP OFF OF THE RIGHTHAND SIDE OF RUNWAY 5 APPROXIMATELY 610' FROM INITIAL POINT OF CONTACT. SUBSTAINTIAL AIRCRAFT DAMAGE CAUSED BY GEAR IMPACTING THE HILLSIDE PRIOR TO THE RUNWAY AND COLLAPSING RESULTING IN RIPPLES IN THE WINGS AND THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR DEPARTING THE WING. AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE WERE BOTHING OPERATING AS EXPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA066](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA066), Dec 20, 2024: Piper PA-28RT-201T (N29247), Placerville, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain an adequate descent rate during the landing approach, which resulted in an impact with terrain short of the runway threshold.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
