## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED THAT SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, HE RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR. THE RETRACTION PROCESS STOPPED ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH ITS CYCLE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO MANUALLY RETRACT THE GEAR BUT THE GEAR DID NOT MOVE. HE RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED WITH THE GEAR PARTIALLY EXTENDED. THE NOSE GEAR DID LOCK AND PREVENTED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT PROPELLER. UPON COMPLETING A GEAR SWING TEST, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR ACTUATING CYLINDER RUPTURED, CAUSING A LOSS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID, AND FAILURE OF THE GEAR ACTUATING SYSTEM. UPON LANDING, THE MAIN GEAR WERE PARTIALLY RETRACTED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE REAR ENGINE, PROPELLER, AND MAIN GEAR DOORS.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
