## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 12/31/2024 AT 1300 LOCAL, THERE WAS REPORTED WINDSHEAR IN THE AREA OF KLAM. THE PRIVATE PILOT DEPARTED KLAM WITH NO FLIGHT PLAN, IN A CESSNA 182M TO CONDUCT TOUCH AND GOES AT SKX AND EXPERIENCED NO WINDSHEAR. RETURNING TO LAM, PILOT EXPERIENCED GUSTY CONDITIONS ON FINAL APPROACH AND ADJUSTED AIRSPEED 5 KTS HIGHER THAN NORMAL APPROACH SPEED. ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 27, AIRCRAFT STALL WARNING HORN ACTIVATED AT APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 100 FEET AGL AND PILOT CONTINUED APPROACH. JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN, A GUST OF WIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT OFF OF THE RUNWAY AND AIRCRAFT STOPPED OFF OF THE RUNWAY. MINOR DAMAGE (NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED) TO THE AIRCRAFT, NO INJURIES AND NO PROPERTY DAMAGE RESULTING IN AN INCIDENT REPORT (INCIDENT). PILOT HAD MADE AN APPROPRIATE CORRECTION TO HIS APPROACH AIRSPEED BUT THE WINDSHEAR AND GUSTY CONDITIONS PREVAILED. JRK

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA076](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA076), Dec 31, 2024: Cessna 182M (N71074), Los Alamos, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control while landing in gusty crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
