## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS THE THIRD FLIGHT SINCE THE ENGINE WAS MAJOR OVERHAULED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR OF FLIGHT AT 3,500’ ABEAM KTLH, THE ENGINE DEVELOPED ROUGHNESS AND, WITHIN SEVERAL SECONDS, A LOUD ‘POP’ WAS HEARD. UNTIL THIS POINT, ALL ENGINE INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. PIC DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND REQUESTED AND RECEIVED AN IMMEDIATE LANDING CLEARANCE. HE LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. A PRELIMINARY INSPECTION INDICATED A CONNECTING ROD SEPARATED AND PENETRATED THE CRANKCASE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
