## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER COMPLETING MEI CHECK RIDE AND SEVERAL TOUCH-AND-GO'S, AIRCRAFT HEADED BACK TO PMP FOR NORMAL LANDING. AIRCRAFT TURNED BASE FOR FINAL APPROACH AND PILOT LOWERED LANDING GEAR. GEAR WARNING HORN SOUNDED AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR ANNUNCIATOR FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. PILOT ABORTED LANDING AND REGAINED ALTITUDE TO TROUBLESHOOT LANDING GEAR MALFUNCTION. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO LOWER LANDING GEAR, INCLUDING EMERGENCY EXTENSION, PILOT FLEW BY PMP TOWER TO VISUALLY CONFIRM LANDING GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDING. PILOT DECLARED EMERGENCY AND INITIATED EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR GEAR UP LANDING. PILOT SHUT DOWN BOTH ENGINES, FEATHERED BOTH PROPS, LOWERED FLAPS AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON RUNWAY 15. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON RUNWAY 15 AND BOTH PILOTS WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA096), Jan 10, 2025: Piper PA-44-180 (N555HF), Pompano Beach, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The separation of the securing hardware for the right main landing gear upper and lower torque links for undetermined reasons, which prevented extension of the right main landing gear.
