## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE CLIMB OUT THE CREW RECEIVED AN ENG 2 LOOP FAULT MESSAGE THAT STAYED ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AND WENT AWAY. AFTER REACHING CRUISING ALTITUDE OF 36,000 FEET, THE CREW RECEIVED AN ENGINE 2 FIRE WARNING, THE WARNING WENT AWAY BEFORE THE CREW COULD COMPLETE THEIR ECAM ACTIONS. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE 2 FIRE WARNING RETURNED, AND IT DID NOT GO AWAY, THIS TIME IT WAS A FULL ENGINE 2 FIRE WARNING, INCLUDING THE CHIMES, THE LIGHTS AND A RED LAND ASAP MESSAGE. THE CREW PREFORMED THEIR ECAM ACTIONS (ENGINE SHUT DOWN) AND THE WARNINGS WENT AWAY (FIRE BOTTLES WERE NOT DISCHARGED) THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND DIVERTED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AND TAXIED OFF THE RUNWAY AND STOPPED WHERE THE FIRE TRUCK COULD INSPECT THE ENGINE AND COMPLETED A WALK AROUND AND FOUND NO DAMAGE OR SIGNS OF FIRE. THE AIRCRAFT TAXI TO THE GATE AND DEPLANED. MAINTENANCE WAS CALLED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A FIRE DUE TO A FUEL LEAK AND THERE WAS DAMAGE TO WIRE HARNESS DUE TO THE ENGINE FIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
