## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE INCIDENT AIRPLANE WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 28 AT BAXTER COUNTY AIRPORT (KBPK). UPON ADVANCING THE THROTTLE FOR TAKEOFF, A HEADSET WAS SITTING ON TOP OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GLARESHIELD. THE HEADSET SLID OFF THE GLARESHIELD AND HIT THE CO-PILOT CONTROL YOKE. THE PIC WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT. THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO RETRIEVE THE HEADSET FROM THE CONTROL YOKE AS THE AIRPLANE WAS ACCELERATING DOWN THE RUNWAY FOR TAKEOFF. IN DOING SO, THE PIC ALLOWED THE AIRPLANE TO VEER TO THE LEFT OFF THE RUNWAY, CONTACTING A DIP IN THE GRASS PARALLEL TO THE RUNWAY. THIS DIP IN THE GRASS CAUSED THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FORK AXLE TO BEND FROM THE INERTIA, RESULTING IN THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY RUBBING AGAINST THE NOSE FORK. THE PIC’S DECISION NOT TO SECURE HIS COCKPIT FOR FLIGHT RESULTED IN THIS INCIDENT.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
