## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTION TO REPORT RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 18. PILOT REPORTED ABOUT 3 MILES FROM RUNWAY. PILOT STATES WHEN HE OBSERVED THE NUMBERS (18) OR LINES AT RIGHT ANGLE, HE TURNED THE AIRCRAFT 90 DEGREES TO DIRECT EAST. MADE FINAL TURN AT ALTITUDE APPROX. 940 FT WITH 2 RED AND 2 WHITE PAPI LIGHTS SHOWING. SPEED APPROX 80 MPH AS HE APPROACHED THE GROUND. NEARLY DIRECT WIND FROM THE SOUTH NO SIGNIFICANT CROSSWIND. TOUCHDOWN AT ABOUT 1100 FT DOWN THE RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT STRUCK LIGHTS ON LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY. PILOT THOUGHT THESE LIGHTS WERE RUNWAY LIGHTS BUT WAS ACTUALLY IN THE GRASS. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A LIGHT. THE FRONT WHEEL MADE CONTACT WITH THE LIGHT AND DESTROYED THE LIGHT SUPPORT AND LIGHT. RIGHT BOTTOM WING STRUCK A SECOND LIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE GRASS ABOUT 650 FEET FROM TOUCHDOWN AND COULD NOT BE MOVED UNDER ITS OWN POWER OUT OF THE GRASS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
