## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 5, 2025, AT 14:10 HOURS, A CESSNA 150M WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE LANDING AT MID VALLEY AIRPORT IN WESLACO, TEXAS, ON RUNWAY 32. DURING THE LANDING, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THEY HAD FORCED THE DESCENT MORE THAN INTENDED. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL MADE HARD CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO USE THE ELEVATORS TO PITCH THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT UPWARD AND APPLIED FULL POWER TO THE ENGINE; HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT LOST LIFT AND CONTROL. AS A RESULT, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT'S DIRECTION, AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLIDED WITH A RUNWAY SIGN. THIS IMPACT CAUSED THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TO SHEAR OFF. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SKIDDED DOWN THE RUNWAY AND VEERED TO THE RIGHT, COMING TO A STOP IN THE DIRT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA110](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA110), Mar 5, 2025: Cessna 150 (N3341V), Weslaco, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare while attempting to land with a tailwind, which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
