## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE INVESTIGATING AVIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR (ASI) CONTACTED PIC OF THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED HOUSTON MEMORIAL AIRPORT (M48) FOR A DAY TRIP TO GASTONS AIRPORT (3M0). PIC STATED IN PHONE CONVERSATION AND PILOT STATEMENT HE LANDED SHORT OF RUNWAY 24 AT 3M0. PIC WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH LANDING AT THIS GRASS UNAPPROVED SURFACE RUNWAY. PIC STATED HE HAD A 30-40 MPH CROSSWIND ON DOWNWIND, WHICH DRAMATICALLY DECREASED IN VELOCITY ON THE FINAL APPROACH, CAUSING A LOSS OF LIFT. DUE TO LANDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE UPON LANDING, CAUSING THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE AND SHEAR OFF BEFORE THE ENGINE/PROPELLER CONTACTED THE GROUND. TWO SOLES ON BOARD, ZERO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA136](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA136), Mar 13, 2025: Cessna 175A (N8000T), Lakeview, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot landed short of the runway.

## Other reports on N8000T (2)

- [Incident 19870114005189I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870114005189I), Jan 14, 1987: Cessna 175A (N8000T), Rock, KS. The pilot elected to land on a country road rather than continue into deteriorating weather . No damage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
