## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT SUFFERED AN UN-COMMANDED NOSE LANDING GEAR (NLG) RETRACTION EVENT WHEN LANDING AT HILTON HEAD, SC (HXD). THE LOWER FORWARD SECTION OF THE FUSELAGE SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR (MLG) REMAINED DOWN AND LOCKED THROUGHOUT THE EVENT.

THE PILOT STATED THAT THE APPROACH WAS NORMAL. LANDING GEAR INDICATION DISPLAYED THREE GREEN, THAT ALL THREE LANDING GEAR WERE DOWN AND LOCKED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE AIRCRAFTS NOSE TIRE MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY, THE FUSELAGE/NOSE SECTION IMPACTED THE RUNWAY WITH A SIMULTANEOUS GEAR WARNING HORN AND GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WITHOUT ANY

FURTHER ISSUES. NO POST EVENT FIRE OR FLUID LEAKS WERE OBSERVED OR REPORTED. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED POWER OFF AND ENGINE SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA165](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA165), Mar 19, 2025: Cessna S550 (N627HS), Hilton Head Island, SC, substantial damage, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
