## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 28, 2025, AT APPROXIMATELY 7:55 LOCAL TIME, AN AIR TRACTOR STRUCK THE TOP OF A MINI-EXCAVATOR BOOM THAT WAS LOCATED IN A FIELD THEY WERE SPRAYING. THE AIRMAN STARTED AN APPLICATION PASS AND PLANNED TO CLIMB OVER THE MINI-EXCAVATOR TO CONTINUE THEIR PASS BUT MISJUDGED THE HEIGHT OF THE BOOM ON THE MINI-EXCAVATOR. THE FRONT LEFT LANDING GEAR CONTACTED THE BOOM OF THE MINI-EXCAVATOR CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO ALTER ITS TRAJECTORY AND MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT SLID APPROXIMATELY 300 YARDS BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. DAY VFR CONDITIONS EXISTED. NO INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA140](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA140), Mar 28, 2025: Air Tractor AT-802A (N41687), Cash, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from an excavator during low-altitude aerial application operations.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
