## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ABOUT 2 MIN AFTER TAKE-OFF, INCHARGE CALLED THE FLIGHT DECK TO INFORM US OF A BAD BURN SMELL IN THE CABIN. INCHARGE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF SMOKE OR FIRE BUT THE SMELL WAS ALL AROUND THE CABIN.

THE CAPTAIN DECIDED TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY WITH ATC AND REQUESTED VECTORS FOR A DIVERSION TO IAD.

SHORTLY AFTER THE START OF DESCENT, CAPTAIN CALLED BACK THE CABIN TO ASSESS THE SITUATION.

THE INCHARGE TOLD CAPTAIN THAT THE SMELL WAS GONE AND NO SMOKE, FUMES OR FIRE WERE VISIBLE.

•	MAINTENANCE FURTHER INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND FOUND THE AIR CYCLE MACHINE TO BE AT FAULT. AIR CYCLE MACHINE PLACED ON MEL AND FURTHER REPLACED AT A MAINTENANCE BASE. REF DEFECT 1650726

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
