## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/21/2025 AN OPS INSPECTOR IN THE MKE OFFICE INTERVIEWED THE PIC. THE PIC STATED THAT AT 25 MILES OUT WINDS WERE 340 AT 18 GUSTING TO 25. HE DID A STANDARD APPROACH TO RUNWAY 31. AS HE APPROACHED THE AIRFIELD AND LOOKED AT THE WINDSOCK WINDS SWITCHED TO 070 AT 18 GUSTING TO 25 AND HE CHANGED TO RUNWAY 5. HE INFORMED THE TOWER OF THE CHANGE, PERFORMED A STANDARD APPROACH TO RUNWAY 5 WITH FULL FLAPS, AS HE TOUCHED DOWN THE WINDS SWITCHED AGAIN, HE MADE THE ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT AND ADDED POWER TO GO AROUND WHEN THE RIGHT WING DROPPED, AND RIGHT GEAR HIT THE GROUND AND BROKE THE WHEEL OFF. THE RIGHT WING THEN STRUCK THE GROUND ALONG WITH THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE STATED THE WINDSOCK WAS AT 340 AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONFINED TO THE RIGHT WING TIP, RIGHT LANDING GEAR BOX, PROP, ENGINE AND COWLINGS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA153](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA153), Apr 7, 2025: Cessna 185 (N1526F), Wausau, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control while landing in shifting wind conditions.

## Other reports on N1526F (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19890731031629A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890731031629A), Jul 31, 1989: Cessna 185D (N1526F), Wolfeboro, NH, Substantial damage. Leveled off too high on water landing and dropped it in on left float. Damage to float wing tip and prop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
