## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DID A NORMAL CROSSWIND WHEEL LANDING THAT RESULTED IN TWO SMALL BOUNCES. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO ARREST THE BOUNCES BY APPLYING NOSE DOWN ELEVATOR PRESSURE, WHILE DOING SO THE PILOT RELAXED LEFT AILERON PRESSURE. THIS CAUSED THE LEFT WING TO LIFT AND THE DIRECT CROSSWIND TO PUSH THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO GROUND LOOP DURING WHICH THE LEFT MAIN GEAR SHEARED OFF FROM THE AIRFRAME. RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT APPEARED TO BE QUALIFIED FOR THIS FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE IN A AIRWORTHY CONDTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA125](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA125), Apr 11, 2025: Cessna 190 (N190CG), Idaho Falls, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
